Pregnancy physiotherapy

Pregnancy and childbirth affect a woman’s body in many ways. A growing belly is not the only change that occurs, even though it is the most visible one. Even if you have been pregnant before, every pregnancy is different, and the sensations in the body can sometimes be surprising.

Pregnancy is therefore a wonderful time to become more aware of your body and to focus on your own well-being.

Hormonal changes, shifts in posture, and increased strain on the body’s tissues can cause various musculoskeletal symptoms as well as pelvic floor dysfunction. Common challenges during pregnancy include numbness in the limbs, pain in the back and pelvic area, and difficulties with bladder control.

The female body is incredibly wise, capable, and adaptable. Even so, pregnancy can make certain symptoms more likely to occur. The good news is that many of these issues can be effectively treated during pregnancy, helping to manage and relieve the symptoms.

During pregnancy, physiotherapy can help with, for example:

  • Swelling

  • Numbness in the limbs

  • Back and pelvic pain

  • Urinary incontinence and other pelvic floor dysfunctions

  • Breathing

  • Tension in the jaw muscles

  • Postural changes

Taking care of your body during pregnancy supports both your own well-being and your preparation for childbirth and recovery afterwards. You don’t have to manage discomforts alone, seeking support early can help you feel stronger, more comfortable, and more confident throughout your pregnancy journey.
